Privacy Policy
Stay Cool and Stay Cool LLC ("we") runs staycoolandstaycool.com and sells the Warpzone plugin. This policy explains what we collect and why. We keep it minimal: we don't sell your data, we run no advertising and no cross-site tracking, and our traffic analytics are cookieless.
What we collect
- Launch-notification email. Ask to be notified when Warpzone launches and we collect the email address you submit, and nothing else. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form and confirming via the double opt-in email; you can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing (a link is in every email). The list is managed by Buttondown (see Processors). We use it only to email you about the Warpzone launch, and we delete addresses after the launch campaign or on your request.
- Purchase details. When you buy, checkout and payment are handled by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, which collects your name, email, and payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email, and order details, not your full card number.
- Support email. Email us and we keep the message and your address to reply and provide support.
- Site analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages get used. It is cookieless, it does not track you across other sites, and it does not build a profile of you. It records aggregate traffic only (such as referrer, country, and browser), never anything that identifies you. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf.
- Watermark data. Purchased and beta builds are stamped with your name and an order/tester ID so a license can be traced to its buyer. This lives in your copy of the software; we hold the mapping of ID to buyer.
- Activation data. A purchased license is activated once per computer (up to three). When you activate or deactivate, the plugin sends our license server your license key and an anonymised machine identifier (a one-way hash, it contains no personal information and can't be turned back into anything about your computer). We store the machine hashes and order number so we can enforce the three-machine limit, plus a hash of the issued license. At activation the plugin also sends the app version and your platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux) so we can see which build is in use; these are aggregate figures and are not tied to you. We do not store your name, email, or license key on that server.
- Anonymous usage ping. So we know which version to support and when it is safe to retire an old one, the app can send a small anonymous ping: the app version, your platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux), whether the app is licensed or running in demo mode, the host application (the DAW) you're running it in, the plugin format (VST3, AU, CLAP, or Standalone), and a random identifier that the app generates and stores only on your computer. The license field is a plain yes/no — never your key, order, or seat — and the host and format are the software's own names, not anything about you. That identifier is not your license key, not a machine fingerprint, and is not linked to your name, email, order, or the activation hash above — it exists only so a single install is not counted twice in one day. We keep coarse daily counts (how many installs ran, by version, platform, license state, host, and format) and nothing more. The ping carries no personal information and builds no profile. The first time you open Warpzone it shows a short notice about this and lets you decline before anything is ever sent; on Windows the installer offers the same choice as a checkbox. After that it is on unless you turned it off, and you can turn it off (or back on) at any time from the app's Help menu. It never blocks anything and fails silently if it can't reach us.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no tracking or advertising cookies, and no cross-site or third-party ad trackers. Our traffic analytics (above) are cookieless and don't profile you.
- No selling or renting of your personal data to anyone.
- The plugin does no background tracking of what you make or how you play. Its network contact is limited to: the one-time license activation (and optional deactivation) described above; the update check you start yourself, which is a plain download of a public file; and the anonymous usage ping above, which you can decline at first run and switch off anytime. Nothing about your projects, audio, or presets is ever sent. Beta licenses never contact a server at all.
How we use it
To deliver the software and updates, provide support, process your order and refunds, enforce the three-machine activation limit, and, in beta builds, identify the source of a leaked copy. That's it.
Processors we rely on
Cloudflare (site hosting, cookieless web analytics, the beta access gate, and the license activation server), Lemon Squeezy (checkout, payment, and download delivery), Resend (sends the license key email after purchase), and Buttondown (the launch-notification email list, double opt-in, unsubscribe, and contact management). Each processes data under its own privacy policy.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the launch list at any time using the link in any email. You can decline the anonymous usage ping when Warpzone first opens, and turn it on or off anytime from the app's Help menu. You can also email us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to release your machine activations, or to be removed from the beta list. We'll do it.
